Ich habe es vollbracht: nach langem hin und her habe ich mein Spotify Abo gekündigt und bin zu Deezer gewechselt und ich bereue es null. Es ist sehr schwer, mit alten Gewohnheiten zu brechen, aber es lohnt sich. Die alternativen Streaming Plattformen wie Tidal, Qobuz oder eben Deezer bieten eine deutlich bessere Qualität (Qobuz, Tidal), bei einer größeren Songauswahl (Deezer). Ohne Polit-Müll, ohne KI-Overkill, mit einer faireren Entlohnung der Artists.
Die hohe Reichweite von Spotify ist relativ, wenn man sich als Underground Artist bei den anderen Anbietern um mehr Reichweite schert, kommt man auf das selbe raus…ich habe mich z.B. überhaupt nicht um meine Apple Music Accounts gekümmert – und hatte dort teilweise dennoch eine höhere Reichweite als auf Spotify, trotz dortigem Playlist Management und Reichweitengeierei.
Was mich zu dieser Überlegung gebracht hat (die Entscheidung fiel erst nach der Ausstrahlung von grazil FM), könnt ihr im neuesten grazil FM Podcast hören, welchen ich noch über Spotify und Youtube ausstrahle, bis mir endlich meine Creator-Accounts auf Apple Podcasts und Deezer freigeschalten werden.

Diese Episode ist die erste fast reine “Sprachausgabe” von grazil FM seit der Anti-Meta-Sendung #FTZ. Damals im Jänner 2025 habe ich mich mit grazil von Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp und Meta Quest vertschüsst, bin aber nach und nach wieder reumütig und vorsichtig zurückgekehrt.
Nun ist die immer umstritterene Streaming Plattform Spotify an der Reihe. Soll sich grazil dem Boykott einzelner Bands und Labels anschliessen, welche Alternativen gibt es? Und wie geht es grazil nach der Rückkehr auf Meta? Was ist anders und welche Schlüsse lassen sich daraus ziehen?

Dear Grazillians!
I did it: after much deliberation, I canceled my Spotify subscription and switched to Deezer, and I don’t regret it one bit. It’s very difficult to break old habits, but it’s worth it. Alternative streaming platforms such as Tidal, Qobuz, and Deezer offer significantly better quality (Qobuz, Tidal) and a larger selection of songs (Deezer). Without political garbage, without AI overkill, and with fairer remuneration for artists.
Spotify’s high reach is relative; if you’re an underground artist looking for more reach on other providers, you’ll end up with the same result… For example, I didn’t bother with my Apple Music accounts at all—and yet I still had a higher reach there than on Spotify, despite playlist management and reach obsession.
You can hear what led me to this conclusion (the decision was only made after grazil FM was aired) in the latest grazil FM podcast, which I’m still airing on Spotify and YouTube until my creator accounts on Apple Podcasts and Deezer are finally activated.

grazil FM | Boykottify?
This episode is grazil FM’s first almost entirely “voice-only” broadcast since the anti-Meta programme #FTZ. Back in January 2025, I said goodbye to Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta Quest with grazil, but gradually returned, remorseful and cautious.
Now it’s the turn of the ever-controversial streaming platform Spotify. Should grazil join the boycott of individual bands and labels, and what alternatives are there? And how is grazil doing after returning to Meta? What has changed and what conclusions can be drawn from this?
A lot of chatter, but certainly not uninteresting.
